The foundation stone of this Roman Catholic church was laid around 1265 but the construction of the main building was probably only around the middle of the 14th century. The church went through major repairs in 2011-2013. Entry is free.

Like all Gothic/baroque churches in the Czech Republic, this lovely church, right next to the main town square, is well worth a visit to admire its architecture and beautiful baroque decor. And we will not be competing with tour groups!!

Originally from the 13. century, but it was rebuilt in the 17. century. From 1631 to 1633 the Czech crown was kept here.

If you are in Ceske Budejovice, St Nicholas's Cathedral is a must. I do not know much about architecture, but I loved it. It's walls are not as over-painted as the ones of an orthodox church's or as spartan as a Catholic church's but it...More

WOW! Wonderful church in a great setting and it is so beautiful inside. We were lucky to see inside, when we returned on the Sunday morning it was closed.

We very nearly missed the most beautiful piece of architecture in the whole of Prague. This beautiful cathedral was tucked away with little street appeal but once ensconced within the bowels of this Church, the real world of the tourist hustle and bustle tends to...More
