This was a lovely church right on the sea front. I didn't think that we would be able to go in, how wrong I was. It had golden lighting and the ceiling was painted in blue with stars on. It was well kept and lovely.

Wednesday 12th June and we visited this beautiful Church which is situated on the outer end of Livadia by the beach front overlooking the Bay. It is roughly 10 minutes from the Port. The Church with its whitewashed walls and towers with the wavey terracotta tiles is visible, from a distance, as the ferry approaches Tilos Harbour, it is a striking image along the coastline. The exterior of the Chuch is rather spectacular, however the interior surpasses that. The ceiling is painted blue with golden stars and golden chandeliers hang from it. Towards the rear of the Church is a Reredos, a wooden screen which is adorned with religious images and icons around the panels and across the top. The dome roof of the Church is decorated with religious images around it and it's arched windows At the centre of the dome is a large image, we assumed that it was St Nikolaos. The walls of the Church are covered a large number of colourful religious images portraying Saints and other religious people. Checked the meaning of Reredos and it is an ornamental screen covering the wall at the back of an altar. Even if it is only a short visit to Tilos, this Church is definitely worth visiting.
