I've been back to this wetland a few times now and it just keeps getting better as the vegetation regenerates. I was out there yesterday afternoon in miserable weather and still saw about 15 species of birds. It's a great spot, easy to get around...More

We walkd most of the easy 2 km walking trail through this lovely site. An old oxbow/ billabong and water filled quarry, providing habitat for a wide range of creatures. Two bird hides, one made from an old shipping container, picnic areas and seats at...More

I spent a quiet hour here really enjoying the quiet and watching the birds. There is lots of space to chill out and explore. Highly recommended.

Having read the Trip Advisor reviews of the Putta Bucca Wetlands, (including the map and directions to the site which are totally inaccurate) I was rather sceptical about visiting. The Wetlands are located on Putta Bucca Road on the other side of town to Oporto...More

You don't expect a wetland environment in a place like Mudgee. In an old quarry, the wetland has attracted a large variety of birds, despite the adjacent cement works. From the southern hide, amongst others, we spotted a white-plumed honeyeater, a red-browed finch, a black-fronted...More

This is a great place for bird watchers, and about average for anyone else. It's not beautiful or scenic - it's an old quarry that has filled with water. There is some old rusting quarry equipment around, which adds a bit of historical interest and...More

This wet lands are in an old quarry which has filled with water. There is a walk around it but birds are difficult to see. It may be better early morning or on dusk. It looks like it will improve over time.

This was an odd little place; I could not work out whether it was man made or natural. It looked in some parts to be half dug up, with the bob cat being recalled before they had completely finished. It is next door to a...More

Usually this is a good place to view a selection of birds but recent walking track work may have had some effect. The new track circles the water but there is no screening of walkers from the birds so they fly off. Currently there are...More
