Guided visit to Pals from Roses and anchovy tasting from La Escala

View of the medieval town of Pals, located at the end of the Empordà wetlands area, where rice fields predominate and the River Ter ends. We will walk through its streets where we will discover the history of the Pals account, visiting the church of St Mary, the lookout "the padrón", the outside of the castle and the clock tower. Then, we will head to the fishing village of L'Escala, located in the southern part of the Bay of Roses, where we will taste the typical product of the area, the famous Anchovies of L'Escala. Next, we will go to the Riells area (Beach Area) where we will have free time to have lunch and swim.

Lovely to sit on the small veranda! The milktart was as good as any "plaas tannie" (farmer's wife') could make it!

My brother and I stayed in Figueres, Spain for 4 days and decided to check out the other local attractions, and cities nearby. We came upon Roses, a beachfront community with a great beach and wonderful scenery. There are wineries nearby to see and there are camp sites for the campers. We stayed at a hotel that charged only 50 euros for a double with breakfast included! The local restaurants were very good and we found a nice itialian restaurant right next to our hotel which was excellent and affordable. The hotel was a small chain, was a different color of blue and they also had a hotel In Girona which we used and got a 10% discount! Cadaques is the town where Salvador Dali actually had a house and he lived there and painted famous scenes of the village. It is about a half hour drive on a MOUNTAIN road, (Be careful driving) from Rose and is well worth visiting. All of the buildings are painted vivid white and all of the roofs are red and it is a beautiful town to see. Lunch was reasonable and we had wine as well. 8 euros thank you...So if you are in Figueres and would like to scout out the area further, I highly recommend these 2 villages.
