Great insight on turtles and the dangers they encounter
Oct 2018
Very nice place and you have to support it. Turtles found in the area are rescued here and then released in nature.

Excellent marine turtle recovery center
Aug 2018 • Solo
Had a small volunteering experience with this center.
I felt like I was living on another dimension - loved every second of it.
Not only the center focuses on marine turtle rehabilitation but also on tourists' sensibilization. Before having the chance to meet the turtles, volunteers will give a free tour of the center (around 15 minutes) explaining what we do and reasons why turtles are here. Looking forward to go back in the future. Definitely recommend it and remember it is open monday to saturday 17 - 19.30!

You can visit and will get explanations about how wildlife is endangered and how those people work to rescue the victims of our abuse. Absolutely worth supporting

Very interesting visit

I have been visited the centre after a day spent at the beach.
I would recommend it as the centre is opening after 5 pm so it is the perfect ending of a day.
The actual visit takes approximately an hour but it is extremely useful to discover, learn and respect the turtles. The first part of the visit is dedicated to an introduction of the specie, the second one is an interactive experience that shows the turtles operated in the centre.
I learnt a lot from it and it is suitable for any age and to remind and refresh to everyone that we have to respect the nature and the sea.
The centre doesn't receive official funds so it is all managed by the passion and the dedication of the volunteers.
Let's support them and respect the nature!

Well done to the staff

In this centre for turtles, there are a lot of injured turtles who were saved and are now being taken care of. One of the members gave a detailed description of their work and afterwards we were allowed to visit the turtles. There was also a stand where you could buy items as a donation for the centre where I bought a lovely turtle bracelet which I still wear today as a reminder of my visit to lampedusa and this centre.

There is information (in Italian, though) about sea turtles and thier actions in Lampedusa area. They swim around 20-60 km per day - quite a swimmers! You also see around 20 of them in the center before they are released. Sea turtles nest in Lampedusa every 2-3 years, so let's hope for a good future for them. Important job in the center.

100% dedicated volunteers

Been there today, after a good explanation about the various species, we saw a few turtles who have been rescued and are still recovering. Must say that the volunteers are really dedicated and they do it from the heart. Thanks also to the fisherman who are contributing. After visiting, everyone must be aware of how dangerous it is to throw stuff in the sea. Well done to all the team. No admission fee, just donations .

Nice to visit this centro di Recupero, if you are a lover of turtles; there is a guide to explain you what happens with the turtles and tell you about her works, and the preservation of her genus.
the little turtles are amazing.
