Overview
More
Established by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1851, Sevenhill Cellars is the oldest winery in South Australia's Clare Valley and the only remaining Jesuit-owned winery in Australia. Originally set up to produce alter wine, Sevenhill is now recognised for its premium table wines, which express the Clare Valley's distinctivevarietal characteristics. The historic winery and cellar door, St Aloysius' Church, the College building and the surrounding vineyards and spiritual sites give visitors an opportunity to combine appreciation of some exceptional wines with an understanding of Sevenhill's religious and historic significance. You can discover this rich heritage on a guided walking tour or you can follow our walking trail using our map and information. Guided tours are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm or by appointment at weekends. At other times, visitors are welcome to undertake the tour by themselves, using our map and information.

Sevenhill is much more than a simple cellar door. It has so much history, and has been beautifully preserved and restored. First you walk through a room of barrels to get to the cellar tasting room, which is well laid out and has lots of...More

A very nice outside area and really cool that you can access the downstairs area where the wines are kept. I didn’t care much for the wines. Apparently they have been graded by some top notch reviewer but they didn’t appeal to me. That’s not...More

Great spot to visit when in Clare. Well run, interesting with a lot of history and great place to visit. Always have a special product in the cellar door to excite the interest of those willing to make the effort.

This was our first stop along our bike ride down the Riesling Trail. The air conditioned cellar door was very welcomed and the staff was friendly and accommodating to us. It was also fun to walk around to check out the wine barrels and then...More

The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with tasting of the wines. We found the four buckets red the best, but all were very good. There is a little museum at the back of the tasting area that is very interesting. Down stairs is an...More

Fantastic Cellar Door with an even greater selection of wines. It’s no wonder they supply well over 90% of sacramental wines. Try the Brother May. It’s expensive but boy it’s good. Looking forward to cellaring for a few years. Shakespeare in the vines was amazing.

Friendly greeting by the host and, their friendly cat. Nice wines, grounds rich in history and a great tasting experience. Affordable prices as they’re not-for profit and, nice fact - they make wine for over 95% Off Australia churches as well as exporting. Great visit.

This winery has beautiful grounds even if you don't like wine! We pulled up in our RV, did a wine tasting (loved the sweet Gewurztraminer with a touch of spice to finish and grabbed a bottle), then we sat outside under a beautiful luscious tree...More
