The park is around the base of the hill on which the monument marking the Centre of NZ is situated. It is complemented by an impressive range of trees alongside the river that were planted around 100 years ago.

A rugby field, a cricket ground and a botanical reserve, all at one place. Good picnic spot too and the base of the train to the Centre of New Zealand.

Lovely playing fields with a history bonus of the site of the first rugby game in NZ. Lovely well formed walks of steady gradient through native forests and where a Kauri Tree was planted 66 years ago.

This is a lovely large green area where the first NZ rugby game was played. Impressively kept and worth a visit. You will probably pass through it on the way to teh centre of New Zealand.

But of course summer is the best time to visit. Great for families, where kids can run around, too. Picnic tables and benches invite you to bring lunch and relax.

A beautiful garden with a large playing field, just nice to rest a while before climbing up to the Center of New Zealand or for watching children play, dogs chasing each other and the occasional rugby or football game.

The sport field is right in the corner of historic Nelson City and it is a well-cared for and groomed park that is still used for formal fixtures and informal activity (picnics, gatherings, running, etc.). It is adjacent to the 'Center of New Zealand' so...More
