We spent a good hour here. Really interesting to visit and the staff are very friendly. It is run by a charity and entry fee is $12.

Thank Jaimee B

This museum - amongst other things features the huge 2016 earthquake which greatly affected Kaikoura (many buildings are still closed and the main road north is undergoing major reconstruction).

The earthquake section was particularly interesting, although a smallish display we spent a good 45 minutes in there.

For a small museum it had a lot on offer. A very interesting exhibition about the major earthquake in November 2016 (the biggest in NZ history) with a film giving personal experiences of the quake. Also had a lot of other displays including old tools,...More

Brilliantly presented, everything looked fresh and new, definitely not stuffy like museums used to be. The exhibition on the earthquake was very moving, but also very informative

This was a very informative place, all about the history and modern-day Kaikoura. An exhibition of the earthquake too. Make sure you check out the jail cells! Very cool!
