We went in to check out the earthquake exhibition and glad we went. It was good. The rest of the museum is quite small but glad we checked it out. $12/pp.

Pretty much the whole library building could be filled with the things youcan see in this museum. Unfortunately like this it's a bit messy and often lacks signs of the displayed items (frankly most of the time).More

Thanks for the review. Our main exhibition has been carefully curated and designed to get the most out of the space and our collection and to create a coherent visitor journey, so I was sorry to read this wasn't your experience. Regarding the signage we...More

We visited this museum having read some of the reviews here and absolutely loved it. The exhibition on the earthquake in 2016 was so informative and I felt I got a rashly good understanding of the science of the event. The rest of the museum...More

This museum is a 'must do' for anyone visiting kaikoura. Amazing displays and really good local history records. We loved the background sound system of waves gently breaking - it just seemed to go with everything. We have been twice and will happily go again....More

Thanks for your 'must do' review. We can't ask for better than that! We are so pleased you enjoyed your visits. It was a conscious decision to make the Museum a quiet relaxing place and only have ocean sounds to fit with our overarching theme...More

Get in soon - the exhibit closes Dec 18. A well put together show that shows the locals experiences.

Great display on the 2016 earthquake. Also lots of local history and natural science exhibits. A small historical library is nestled inside. Friendly staff.

We called into this museum on a rainy day in Kaikoura. The fee is very reasonable ($12) for what you get - there are 3 rooms, one being about the 2016 earthquake, a research room and then a larger social history room of the area....More
