We settled down in our place and sought for photo points in Geraldton. The first thing come out was this Memorial landmark in Geraldton. We drove for five minutes to get there since it was located at the centre point of Grraldton city. The structure...More

A moving tribute to the many lives lost in this wartime tragedy. Beautifully designed and well situated high above Geraldton. Signage is informative and explains the circumstances of the Sydney’s loss and the symbolism of the memorial. It is well worth taking time to visit...More

This memorial is located atop a hill overlooking the ocean. There is great attention to detail in every aspect from the list of seamen lost to the lavender planted around this magnificent memorial. Certainly worth a visit.

Wonderful memorial and tribute to those souls lost. Very tastefully done, credit to all those involved in its design construction and maintenance, well worth a visit and an opportunity to reflect on our past and sacrifices made.

At a wonderful local eatery, Archipelago, a resident encouraged us to visit this memorial. And so we did, right away, that very evening. A spectacular sight unfolded: not only of the well-lit memorial itself, but of the city and port as well. Couldn't read much...More

This tribute to the HMAS Sydney II 645 sailors is a wonderful experience and can be quite overwhelming. The Smith's Sculptures who designed the memorial, put so much thought into each element. A tour of the memorial with the tour guides which are at 10.30...More

Visited the monument while on a tour. It was very interesting and gave a good idea into the full story of the Sydney and the men involved. The monument was very unusual and well worth a visit.

We did the free guided tour at 10.30. Just wait at the base of the car park footpath for it to start. Very informative and a lot of stuff explained that you would never realise about the monument without it being pointed out to you....More

Maybe your cruise line will provide bus transport to the memorial. Otherwise a taxi would be the way to get there. There were guides on the day we went.

Hi Kevin, the memorial is in Gummer Ave, just up from the centre of Geraldton, I would suggest that you drive up to it since the approaches are quite steep. Parking is not a problem at the entrance to the memorial. The whole... More
