A walk down Lydiard Street to just admire the architecture is worth a visit. Raise your eyes to first floor level and study the ornate facades of these buildings. It is quite a stage set and a vision of bygone times... It's a tribute to...More

It's just nice to walk slowly and take in the grand presence that the beautiful old buildings have in the street. Bit of a step back in time.

I love Lydiard Street and would recommend it highly to anyone interested in Australian social history. The architecture of so many of the houses is just gorgeous and speaks eloquently of an elegant past. I'm sure the watchers of the Dr. Blake series (I'm not...More

The architecture in Lydiard St is fabulous. Takes you back to a previous time, with out the horse and cart, but still wonderful. Make sure you look up, especially across the street from where you're walking.

Lydiard Street has marvellous old gold rush era buildings. It is a tragedy that there are also other buildings which were built in the 50s or 60s which are blight on the landscape

This street is so wonderful with its old buildings. There are a number of different buildings with their own history.

Love the old architecture of Ballarat and could have looked at lots more. We checked out the buildings according to the Dr Blake Mysteries self guided walking tour. Would recommend taking a look inside The Regent Cinema and checking out cinema 1 for sheer size...More
