Day 2 of our two week holiday. Tamar Valley is a short drive from Launceston. Gorgeous scenery and delicious sparkling wines at Pipers Brook, Riesling’s at Bay of Fires and Devils Corner. Falling more in love with Tasmania every day!

We had good advice from the Information Centre at Exeter and followed the Tamar on a riverside drive rather than the main road. Most scenic.

Our first view of the Tamar Valley was the quaint village of Exeter then the woe factor...Brady lookout and our initial look at the Tamar River. Magnificent...I want to live here! A month later we moved into a place at Beauty Point!

Easy drive, breath taking views. Worth a visit. Make sure you go all the way to Low Head Lighthouse in the north, the northern most tip of Tasmania.

We had a wonderfully interesting and tasty experience at Moore's Hill Winery near Exeter. It's an award-winning, totally sustainable vineyard, fully off-the-grid for both power and water. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable in sharing their wine tastings at the cellar door, and the...More

It is very easy to get around if you are driving. Lots to see, do and taste. You will see some wonderful views and taste some great wines. We chose to drive up the west side and come back to Launceston the east side.

Famous for its produce, the Tamar valley is a beautiful place to drive along and stop in at various places along the way whether it be vineyards/cellar doors, fruit, honey, dairy.

They are quite close to each other. Cataract G is slightly closer to Hobart and would make a good stop before going to the Tamar valley.
