Magical scenery as you walk from beach over headlands and on to the next beach, depending how far you want to go. To Tacking Point Lighthouse is about 9km and this covers six different beaches starting from the Town Beach. There are headlands which require...More

This is a must do in Port Macquarie. Quite often in winter you see whales breaching. It's so beautiful, so scenic. And it's free

The coastal walk in Port Macquarie is as good as any place. The highlight is Flagstaff Lookout. It gives you a bird-eye view of the beaches and break-walls on both sides of Hasting River. The view is just magical.

This walk is spectacular any time of year but especially in whale season. You can make this walk shorter or do the entire thing. There is a nice mix of winding dirt tracks through the trees and getting your feet on the sand or even...More

This is not a walk for the fainthearted or the casual walker, but it is repaid by both the amazing views and the alternation between lush coastal forests and rock-peppered beaches. We did the whole walk from Port Macquarie to the lighthouse. It took us...More

Our daily routine whilst in Port Macquarie is to take an early morning walk along the coast. Although a little challenging the walk is it own reward.

What a great walk. Follows the headland around and save for a few stairs is quite comfortable for seniors. There is so much history in Port: all the vantage points have a historical story that add to the experience. An added bonus is that the...More

We go walking along the coastal path all the time. Most sections are good for a pram. Always see whales somewhere along the line (it’s July now). Good thing is that when you want to take a break you can just park on a beach...More

It starts in the centre of Port Macquarie (Westport near Settlement City) and finishes up at Tacking Point. There are a number of sections so you don't need to do it all at once. It's a good idea to take water with you as... More

It depends on which way you walk. If you walk in to town from Lighthouse Beach there is a bus that goes to the lighthouse area. I'm not sure how often the bus runs though as it is a private bus service and may be infrequent... More
