About
THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION Hope Estate is a family owned and operated working winery, brewery and distillery perfectly located in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country. Award winning craft beer, Estate-grown wine, premium Australian grain spirits and home to Australia's largest purpose-built outdoor winery concert amphitheatre with the biggest concerts going around. Hope Estate is dedicated to making sensational wines and are firm believers in estate-grown varietal wines. Following this philosophy, Hope Brewery opened early 2014 and kicked off their range with a whole lot of hoppy ales. Since then they’ve been satisfying a desire for new beers and new styles including NEIPAs, sours, trophy-winning stouts and even Australia’s strongest IPA. Mid-2020 saw the inception of Hope Distillery launching with a range of premium Australian grain spirits including Gin, Vodka and Moonshine. Our recently renovated Cellar Door is open 7 days, 10am - 5pm for wine, beer and spirits tasting.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable wine tasting experience here. The guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and not pushy. The wine varieties were good at reasonable prices.

Friends
I recently attended the BBQ and beer festival on the 28th may at your Hope Estate venue. I was with a group of friends and was designated driver of a van.

I currently hold a valid nsw mobility parking pass as I have a back injury and find it hard to walk longer distances or up hills etc.  and hinders my mobility. Upon entering In my vehicle I was approached by one of the event staff who was directing traffic at the entrance and was asked was i just dropping off. I replied no that a had mobility parking pass and wished to park.

I was the asked. Are you in a wheelchair? I replied no I'm not but I still have mobility parking and showed her the pass. I was then told sorry mobility parking is only for those that require wheelchair access.

I explained thats not how mobility parking works and just because I am not in a wheelchair that I don't have a disability. I was again told sorry it is only for those that require wheelchair access. I asked was I being denied access to mobility parking when I had a valid pass just because I wasn't in a wheelchair. I was told due to rain etc that parking was limited and I would have to park in the normal alloted areas ( at the bottom of a large hill mind you) and take a risk not to get bogged. Given I was clearly not getting anywhere with this person and their clear discrimination towards me.becaue I wasnt in a wheelchair. I decided to give up and try parking on the grassed area. I did not get far up the hill before the van would not go further so decide to see if could park on a flatter area. I found a location toward the bus area on the exit road and was again approached by a different staff member informing my I could not park there. I said I had been denied mobility parking I can't get the van up the hill so wanted to park here. I was told because its for buses  and I would have to go back out of the venue and park across the road even though it was clear no bus would fit where I tried to park.

Luckly one of my friend was able to find a spot a bit further up from where I was told not to park but still at the bottom of the hill which I then had to walk up causing me pain.

I am extremely disappointed at the treatment and discrimination I recieved from your event staff members when asking about a mobility park just because I was not in a wheelchair. If the staff member had of said I'm not sure if any are available but head right at the exit road go up thee hill and see if any are available I would have accepted that. Coincidently walking up the hill I found a number of spaces free closer to the entrance where other cars were parked that would have assisted me.

Given that it is 2022 and the current climate around discrimination and how is extremely frowned upon Maybe you should in the future educate staff that just because a person isn't in a wheelchair that it doesn't mean they don't have injuries or disabilities which hinder their function.

This interaction at the start of the day put a whole dampener on this event and if this is how you instruct your staff to treat people when coming to your venue or events then I will no longer the attending any your venue or events nor will I be recommending to anyone to visit your venue in the future.

Restaurant was closed, which was disappointing, though cheese platter and beer paddles were sensational. It was also a beautiful location sitting outside and staff were very friendly. I would loved to have stayed longer!

If I could give 0 stars I would!

Purchased tickets for the Gin & Jazz festival. 4 days before the event they reschedule due to the wet weather, they announce new dates but unfortunately they clash with another event so I am unable to go. They offer a full refund for anyone unable to attend new date. I email as per instruction requesting an email, it's a weird generic email so I ask for a confirmation they have received email, no reply. Meanwhile my credit card I used to purchase the tickets had some unusual charges so my bank has to cancel and re issue a new card to me. I call Hope Estate and talk to Corrine and explain the situation. I am told she is unable to process a EFT back to an actual account but if I email through my bank account details.someone 'higher up the food chain' will get back to me and process it. 4 days later I get an email from Corrine saying my refund has been processed it will take 14 days etc. I wait 14 days no money so call. I speak with Corrine again who tells ' You should never have received that email' and that my refund was 'sitting on top of the pile waiting to be done' I ask why it's taking so long and she tells me ' we have a new festival this weekend and my priorities have shifted, your refund will get done when I am ready'. After further conversation I am told she is the only one doing refunds and will get to it, but if I had a new card number it would be quicker, as luck would have it ai have my new card so give her the numbers. After another week still no refund so I call,Corrine answers and transfers me to Emma. I explain everything to Emma who accuses me of trying to fraud them out of money ( a whole $244) after back and forth between us she screams I will refund to your old card and if it doesn't work bad luck and hangs up on me....... I call my bank and ask if the money will return to me to old card( same account number or just go back to them) nope it will go back to a Hope Estate. I call back Emma at Hope Estate, explain I have spoken with my bank who have confirmed my card no longer exists so won't take the money, hence why I gave you my bank account details and my new card number. She tells me.she will refund to my new card. I called the following Friday, she and Corrine were not in the office, I asked for confirmation by 5 pm that my refund had been processed ( I was not expecting it to be in my account, but just confirmation it have been processed) nothing. So now it's over a month since I first requested a refund, I am still waiting and after a phone with both Emma and Corrine who seems to think she is the highest the food chain goes at Hope Estate I still have no refund. I have also emailed them but get no response. Although interestingly as soon as I mentioned Fair Trading this morning I suddenly have a email reply outline their refund process. I would avoid Hope Estate and any kind of festival they hold as they do lack customer service. They are happy to take your money, but are slow in giving it back.

On an overcast day we called in to check it out, we ordered a couple of beer paddles which was an experience as they have some weird and wonderful combinations to try. All in all the experience was great, the take home case price are bit over the top.

Don’t be put of by the large size of the winery and brewery.
Good wines, great beer paddles with lots of beer options.
Views and outdoor seating area, although I felt this needed an overhaul was quite old and showing its high traffic use due to concerts.
This needed an update ASAP.
Good wine tasting, nice staff.
Pizzas looked good and place was busy with lots of patrons.
Worth a visit.

Great venue to see a band however, such a limited choice for drinks. Only 2 beers on offer I only had one and it was so horrible I am sure it was off, it made me physically sick which was very unpleasant. Later I tried a sickly sweet cider which actually tasted like the beer with flavouring added. Very disappointed Hope Estate, people attending concerts deserve better, remember these people are potential customers.

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback. Apologies for your experience. We have not heard of any similar issues with the beers on the night. They were all freshly canned during the week prior to the concert. Regards, Hope Estate Team

It feel as a quite commercial settings ... I personally did not enjoy too much as I found it a bit impersonal but I can see how it would work really well for big groups of friends or large families. Paddles are ok, you pick up at the bar and drink at your table. If you want a more intimate experience and surroundings I would probably not recommend, although I know they do also pic nic so maybe a better option for couples.
