My Mum and I enjoyed our visit to the Handmade Markets. Lots of some lovely crafts, food and lots more. We love things that are hand made and supporting the locals. We enjoyed talking to the people that has made the crafts etc. This is our second visit and will be back in the future. Family with no Teenagers.

We arrived early avoiding COVID crowding and thoroughly enjoyed the range of stalls and the friendly service all stall holders provided. Not a ‘dud’ stall amongst them! Excellent quality and range of goods.

Just first day out we found this market selling genuine home made local products. Handicrafts, Wood work,Jams and Preserves, Honey, Dried Ginger,Turmeric Powder and even Red Hot Chilli sauces ! Loved its friendly, relaxed, country atmosphere with helpful stall holders explaining their products.

The most divine owner Judy has hand spun which she creates into lovely scarves. One was almost too hard to resist. Just a bit too short.
Well, Judy is making me one of the right length.
To consider when looking at the price, (Alpaca is not cheap even when machine worked) is the incredible quality of Judy's Alpaca Wool. But I am so excited to know that she is the one to actually 'spin' the yarn and work it into my beautiful scarf. Carefully made to look lacy and it is light yet warm.

I am thrilled by your excitement for Judy's work. She truly is an artist when it comes to spinning and knitting alpaca wool. I will pass on your praises and words of encouragement to her. Thanks so much for calling into the market. Hope to see you again!

The markets are small-ish but sell WAY better stuff that the ordinary markets as all the products are handmade in the Hunter Valley - not imported from who-knows-where.

The owners who migrated to Australia nearly 20 years ago (form USA) are super super nice and gave us lots of free hints about which wineries to visit and what to do in the Hunter.

Love, love the authenticity of this market.

How lovely of you to write such a positive review! We are extremely proud of the fact that all the stallholders are passionate about their creative work and have a venue that supports them. In today's world of overseas.com, Handmade in the Hunter Markets is a throwback to old-time village markets where people sold what they made and exchanged information. That is definitely what we are all about. When you are in the Hunter again, call in again. We would love to see you again!

Love coming to the handmade in the Hunter Markets when in town. It’s great meeting the stall holders and makers and having a wander through. Such friendly people and being a regular, most remember us coming through. Definately worth a visit if you are in the Hunter Valley on a Saturday when the markets are held. Best keep an eye out on the Facebook page for open dates and any bad weather cancellations which at times cannot be helped.

Thanks so much for your loyalty and support, mazzma77! The stallholders are passionate about what they do and it is so much fun when we see regulars who love handmade as much as you do. And you are definitely right - the weather is a fickle friend and we try very hard to run but safety is always a priority. We have some new stallholders starting and I'm sure you are going to love what they do as well the next time you come to visit.

Handmade in the Hunter Markets is a true gem of the Hunter Valley. I visit the markets on a regular basis and there is always something different. With just a quick look around you can tell that the items are genuinely handmade - they are indeed unique and nothing short of "artworks". The best part is you can talk to the very artist who created them. My dogs absolutely loved the handmade dog treats.

I am also in the fortunate position to be a local tour guide so I can speak not only as a customer myself but as someone who has witnessed the reaction of many people. I choose to include Handmade in the Hunter Markets as a feature item on my tours when we visit Kevin Sobel's wines.

As we drive past I often get people asking "Are we going to visit those markets sometime today? They look fascinating." and I always get delighted replies when I confirm that yes the markets are on our itinerary.

After our visit the bus often drives around full of interesting chilli plants, sauces, jewellery, candles, hand creams ... you name it! I often have delighted passengers tell me about how they found the perfect gift for the person who has everything or is hard to buy for.

I have very strict standards for the venues we visit on our tours and unless my guests receive 5 star service and love the venue we don't go back. The satisfaction of my guests reflects on my tour as well.

Handmade in the Hunter Markets is a tour highlight and will be on our tour well into the future as our passengers are delighted with the unique items and the friendly country hospitality shown by the stall holders. Even if you are not on a tour, a visit to this market is well worth your time.

Thank-you so much for your glowing review and feedback. I especially liked that you have reviewed us as both a customer and tour operator. This dual role means that you and the guests you bring to the market are an integral part of why you have said what you said. If there is anything else I can help you with, I would be more than happy to do so.

Wonderful, cozy, relaxed, country feel .. what a wonderful place to visit and shop for fabulously unique gifts. Super impressed with all handmade and locally made products sold directly by the maker so great for a informed chat. Left feeling a little lighter in the pocket but will be definitely back.

I expected a lot more. Their marketing on FB made me want to visit.
What a disappointment. Kitch ,kitch nothing that is not at every other market around. Way smaller than given. A damn long drive to be to see the same old same old. Not even a decent cup of coffee.

I have no idea what you were expecting since all my stallholders work is listed on our website and is far from kitch and boring. I don't know any other market around that has Monte Dwyer, the loveable larrikin Today Show ex-weatherman and now author, selling books he has written, or someone who handmakes horse tack that is of such high quality that the Emirates Horse Stud buys it for all their foals, or a botanical artist who is regularly invited to show her work at Sydney Botanical Gardens or a glass artist who handmakes each bead she uses in her jewellery. If you had spent time talking to these wonderful stallholders you would have discovered that the chilli sauce woman won the blue ribbon in the Sydney Mr. Chilli contest this year, that the olive person owns the olive groves that all her products are made from and the beekeeper not only harvests and sells his honey but his wife, uses all their beeswax in making their candles and eco-wraps. Hardly boring or kitch! We have never claimed to be big but have always said that we are 100% handmade by Hunter Valley residents. And it is because of this point of difference that the Governor of New South Wales chose to visit us and Darling Harbour regularly invites us to set up as a market there (we are the only market they have ever allowed to do so). On our facebook page, you indicated that you preferred another market that is known for selling imported and mass-produced-items. So I have to wonder if you truly value the work and unique creative qualities of any item that is "handmade".
