My wife and I had only 2 hours to learn about the port of Newcastle which we thought was a key part of knowing Newcastle. Trish and Dave worked with me via email and mobile to craft an afternoon tour during which we followed the entire process of inbounding a 300 metre coal ship from the "head" to dock.
Sure it's fascinating to see but it's even more fascinating when the guide can explain the details of the harbour routing, the roles of the various tugs and the impact of tides, rain water in the river port as well as wind and storms. The ships move through most of these occurrences - it seemed so fascinating to learn how they did it.
Dave and Trish were very good guides That means they knew their stuff but they were also keen enough about it themselves that they didn't put us down for "not knowing". Take a ride with them; we will come back do some whale watching.
The Spitfire Pilot boat is a solid and sturdy platform. That's a plus!

I enjoyed a lovely afternoon/evening cruise for a friends birthday with Dave and Trish on spitfire pilot boats.
The cruise consisted of a trip up the harbour and out the heads and then offshore.
The opportunity to be offshore and see the sun set over Newcastle from a different perspective was a fantastic experience, something locals and visitors to Newcastle would equally enjoy.
Then the cruise back into the harbour in the twilight with the city’s lights coming to life was spectacular.
The experience was truely special and I would recommend a cruise with spit fire pilot boats to see Newcastle from a different perspective to all.

Excellent cruise around the Harbour and outside the breakwater to the the first buoy with its resident seal, up close and personal amazing. The skipper and crew were top notch, very knowledgeable about the harbour, we were lucky enough to catch a coal ship fully loaded leaving port with tugs in tow, a great experience

Went for a harbour tour for our end of year drinks, and although we are local, we take for granted how beautiful our harbour is. We started from near the co-op, so began with some fresh prawns, and ended up going outside past Nobby's and then back around to Stockton. We will be back this year!! Thank you Spitfire 🚢
