It is well worth spending a little bit of time viewing the many exhibits from this area. The entry price is $2- such good value to see a lot of island history. If the weather is bad - a good place to get out of...More

Cost was $2 cash per person and the lady at the reception was genuinely helpful and informative. The Museum was a nice reminder of the hardships that island people face and a testament to their heritage. They are building a new museum across the road...More

Probably the best $2 you'll spend on the island. It's not very big but has some interesting historical photos and artifacts on early island life. Good for a couple hour visit.

This is a small locally maintained museum. It is worth a visit for half an our or so to get a sense of the local history.

Was left wanting a bit more detail about displays and items. Was more of a collection of items than detailed history of the Island. A bit ho hum really.

The Rakiura Museum is worth a visit so that you can get an idea of the history of this small island. It's inexpensive and won't take you long to look around its 2 main rooms with exhibits. It takes you from the early 19th century...More

This a terrific collection of artefacts and historical treasures showing what the pioneers families of Stewart Island had to use to establish their living and homes is this remote place. $2 fee is modest. (cash) worth a good look and wander

I enjoyed a quiet hour visiting this lovely wee museum. The staff went out of their way to answer my question which was most appreciated. The history of the people and the island is so interesting and the cost very reasonable.
