I've done this on several occasions and it never ceases to amaze. The hike to the summit might be long and tiring, but the views along the way and from the summit make it all worth while. From the chairlift, the climb starts gradually through...More

I did this today. Use lots of sunscreen and take plenty water. I wanted an experience of hiking without lots of other people, and couldn’t face the idea of re-visiting the cable-car place, so after the summit turned off from the saddle towards Arthurs Point...More

Got the gondola up and then started our hike. It was challenging in places but mainly due to the humidity that day. Nice trial with minimal gravel or rocky areas until you go from the saddle to the summit then it gets trickier. Didn’t take...More

One of the best and also the hardest track we have ever done. We did not use the gondola, instead of that we started in QT downtown, climbed Tikitrail and than Ben Lomond trail. Altogether 1420m elevation gain and about 18km there and back. Managed...More

It took me 4 hours from Lomond Cres to the peak, with several short stops. I did it on 2 l of water, one keto cracker and some himalayan salt. The day was hot and that being my first day in NZ, I quickly realized...More

The view from the top is amazing, I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed. It is a tough walk though, particularly from the saddle to the summit. It took us an hour to the saddle from the top of the tiki trail and as doc said...More

After reading reviews, I knew we were in for up hill climbing. We went prepared lots of water, food. Having had hiked a few Great Walks, this has been the toughest so far! Especially when it is so hot! My fitness is not the best, but...More

Gorgeous hike. Pretty strenuous to be honest, but very worth it. Would definitely recommend it to those in decent shape for the view at the top!

Did this climb on a very hot day and to be fair we were a little unprepared. First major climb on a Keto diet so energy levels were a little out of whack. The view though was spectacular and none like I'd ever seen. Simply...More

We took the gondola ride and hiked the trail to the saddle. It's a well maintained and even track but it is steep. It took us (couple in mid 50s) 1.10 hours each way. We are reasonably fit but found it quite tough going as...More

I was there in December. There are several parking lots that give you early bird specials, around 12-13 NZ$. I most of the town parking is free but it is time limited, you need to look for blue parking signs that tell you... More
