We cut through the university campus on our way between the botanical gardens and the railway station, and we are very glad that we did.

A mix of very old and contemporary buildings & spaces, the large stone building which houses the clock tower was just so beautiful. A hidden gem well worth discovering.

We were on a tour & stopped here. Dunedin houses the oldest university in New Zealand, the University of Otago. We saw the clock tower at Otago University (I thought he said Chicago). It is an impressive building

Loved visiting this university - all the old buildings and hearing the clock chimes was a treat. Staff friendly and let us roam around the campus :)

This was a photo op stop on a tour. Very English looking with some wonderful old buildings. Also well kept grounds.

We could only see some of the buildings from the outside but the clock tower building is very impressive. A 19th century building in gothic style with bluestone and perfect pointing of the joints. Similar to the railway station and several churches in Dunedin. Maintaining their Scottish heritage.

Just north of the CBD is the stunningly beautiful buildings of the university. Nestled beside a lovely flowing creek, this wonderful building is so quintessential of Dunedin and its Scottish heritage. Walk around both sides of the building as it is very nice all around.

The problem with this place that it has no bathrooms. The local tour guide bus must take and make the wee wee and poo poo in the bush. This is savage behavior and savage people. Why no bathroom? It was better when border was closed at least, the tourist can bathroom in MIQ quarantine city.

Nice place to drive through but the local students are drunks and engage in rowdy behavior. They burn couches and break into homes and assault each other. It is part of their island life style experience when your ancestors put you on a boat and send you far away and you show up on some island. It makes sense but come check out nice European looking structure in Asia without any indigenous people in it. Over 65% of the prison population is where the young Indigenous men live. Good to visit, terrible to stay. A good reminder that Earth is beautiful but not all its creatures are worthy.

The University of Otago does have some spectacular buildings which are well worth walking around, especially on a sunny day. It is amazing how many buildings were constructed at the same time of stone.
