Visited on Monday 21st May. Plenty of free parking and a great place to stop and go for a walk on the pier or beach. Great anytime of the year.

We walked out on the 300m pier which is a must when you visit New Brighton. Lovely cafe's here where you can sit and enjoy the view. Good drive to here from Christchurch city and well worth visiting.

I hadn’t been down here in over 15years and was so happy I took my son down there. The new park for children is located right next to the pier and beach, awesome park for children. Can not wait to come down again in summer...More

On a good day you can't beat a visit to the Pier and surrounding facilities. Although the shops in New Brighten are a shadow of their former glory the Pier and playground if you have young children is a great place to visit.

Unfortunately Brighton is a very visible victim of the petty village snobbery endemic in Christchurch, and decay and neglect are apparent . It's rival,Sumner is equally tatty but is tawdry also. New Brighton has a pier, exceptionally well sited Library and wonderful views of Banks Peninsula...More

It's not the warmest place in winter but the wind and the waves are so refreshing. You can watch people fishing on the pier, keep an eye on the adventurous and hardy surfers, sit in the library looking at the sea and enjoy a coffee...More
