Victoria square is entirely blocked off due to restoration works. You can see it’s of it from the tram but that’s it. They anticipate it will be open again at the end of March 18.

When we visited it was blocked of and closed to the public. It was under restoration. You were able to see the Statue of Queen Victoria.

Victoria Square is a picturesque small parkland on the banks of the Avon River. Very tranquil area that is very well maintained. Nice statues of both Capt Cook and Queen Victoria as well as an interesting bridge over the Avon.
Even though certain areas of the park and surrounds are in the rebuild process there is still much to see and many decorative surrounds and monuments
Christchurch is excellent choice to relax around Victoria Square. It is not a crowded and big compare to other cities.
