The only reason you would visit this park - as a visitor rather than a local, is to vitis that Cardboard Cathedral. The church itself it beautiful even despite of the reason for its creation. It makes for a good photo from the park.

Large open square used for a variety of events during the year (including a carol service on Christmas Eve). There is a hanging sculpture which, if you stand in the right location, looks like a spire on the side of the Cardboard Cathedral (a tribute...More

An open area (grass) in the middle of Christchurch. Famous now for being opposite the Cardboard Cathedral. There was an interesting work of art at this spot when I was there. See my photo.

This is one of the many parks inside the city, as a very open place, you can sit in one of the benches and enjoy the surrounding views for some minutes. While the park is nice, you may have to cross some of the building...More

Quite peaceful small park accros the cathedral junction, good to sit and talk with a cup of coffee or cold drinks.

Latimer Square is across the road from the Transitional Cathedral and is well worth the visit. A peaceful place that was great for a rest while enjoying the city of Christchurch.

This is a great open space just to sit and relax. Lots of construction going on around and this park is a wee oasis amongst it all. Close to the new playground and a short walk to some cafes.

This is a beautiful open square located in the center of Christchurch. I believe this is named for Hugh Latimer from the 1500's.

And as they have all gone it now appears like a lawn in the middle of nowhere! I'm sure they will rebuild around it again - what, and whether they even should, will be seen over time. In the interim it looks very barren.
