We did not visit any particular exhibition, but the building and its visitor galleries and retail outlets are really nice. It is an architecturally interesting building - very pretty, but I wouldn't go here to just see the building. You only really need to visit...More

I think I loved most the Colour room which features a different colour every other exhibit, which is more oriented towards children but actually I found my favourite part! A nice mix of contemporary and colonial pieces. The building itself is interesting as is its...More

I am an artist and visit the Gallery regularly to look at potential trends, styles and general art forms. The guides are all terrific people with a very good grasp of their subjects. The Gallery itself is very modern, well and appropriately lighted, with subdued sound levels.

The building alone is impressive with its modern galleries & entrance hall. The installations were interesting & thought provoking. The bathrooms were a huge let down for such a modern building. It was almost like they were a second thought. Worth a visit to this...More

The children loved looking at all the different artworks. There was also a booklet to complete. This gave the ‘adults’ time to enjoy the different exhibitions. A little something for everyone. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Wonderful facilities.

For a city like Christchurch, this gallery houses a good cross section of all genres, with adequate space for visiting exhibitions, such as the one we saw during our visit, featuring British contemporary artist, John Stezaker. Wonderful contemporary building with lots of amenities.

The most important thing is its FREE. The architecture is worth checking it out. Very fluid, clean and beautiful. Mostly glass and stainless steel. There is a piano sculpture up front and art on top of the building, very interesting.Since Christchurch does not have much...More

Stunning architecture, great layout and always an interesting mix of exhibitions. One of my most favourite places to visit regularly in Christchurch. The store within the Art Gallery complex has the most funky and stylish objects and the Galleria restaurant and cafe is divine. The...More
