Don’t be phased by the hairpin bends, it only lasts 5mins before you know it’s over. It’s a very pleasant and easy drive between Wanaka and Queenstown. I can only imagine how magical the mountain views would be in winter.

Utterly breathtaking views. Be careful on the way down, especially if you're using a campervan or motorhome. Very near and steep ledge on the left side. Lots of 180deg turns. Ensure your brakes are ok....More
This is the best way from Queenstown to Wanaka. You go up a steep mountain road, hit some great viewpoints, then descend into a striking valley with the bonus of passing through the pretty village of Cardrona.
