It's a great iconic ride, if your brave enough you can combine it with the Pylon Track as a long loop...that will test your strength! I've done it a few times and absolutely Love it
I was visiting a couple of friends in Wellington this year and we went and enjoyed a couple of walks here. Very enjoyable.

A great place for a short walk. We did Tane's Track which is clearly marked, easy to walk and includes some great sights.
Amazing path of up to 10kms one way till u reach the tunnel. Its one of the best walkways in Wellington and would be really fun if you can go in groups as the path is quite flat and you can have loads of fun...More

The old Rimutaka Rail line traversed the mountain range more than 60 yearsago and this marks some of the now abandoned track. There are some really good and accessible tracks into the forest here.
