We always take our visitors to the gardens as it is such an asset to Taupo. It is a huge area and so well looked after by volunteers. Each path takes you for a lovely walk into different areas, and the diverse planting is stunning.

We found out about these gardens through a brochure of walks in Taupo and were glad we went there. The bush is really nice and we enjoyed all the bird life there, especially having a wax-eye two feet above us in a tree. Could see...More

We were in New Zealand in October and we were staying at the Hilton in Taupo so we were only minutes from the botanical garden. We figured this would be our chance to check out the local flora. We drove right by the entrance on...More

Just down the road from the Hilton Hotel, we stumbled on this botanical garden and all the rhododendrons were in flower, spectacular, well kept and very clean

If your mobility is limited it is still worth a drive through the park. You will get several lake lookouts and see many trees and flowers from your car. One way road around it. Donation box at the end to help care for the park....More
