Beautiful building and very interesting to stroll around the grounds, however a shame we couldn’t view inside the Cathedral; there is a doorway you can look through with a timer light, however the light didn’t seem to be working! Worth a visit none the less.

This church is not far out of the center of town. It is a beautiful building and worth a look but the inside is closed as it is being reinforced for earthquakes.

The grounds of this church are very historic with many stories told on the grave stones, which have been renovated by local historians. There are some lovely old trees and it is worth a visit, unfortunately the church building is closed for the foreseeable future....More

In so many ways the cathedral opens a window directly into the minds and hearts of the people during the NZ wars. Will you be able to deal with the inscriptions on the old graves from the day?

My ancestors built this beautiful stone church so I was keen to see it. Sadly it is still closed due to the earthquake strengthening going on and you cant go inside. The grounds aren't huge so you can easily wander and look at the gravestones...More

It might be called a cathedral but that appellation is recent (despite someone claiming its NZ's oldest cathedral). Why they don't disp[lay a little modesty is beyond me - it's a perfectly lovely little church with fantastic graves to ponder over - see if you...More
