We visited primarily to look for historical records. Ancestors on my wife’s side arrived in 1843 on one of the first ships. The house is small and semi open plan. I guess comfortable by the standards that the first immigrants were used to.

This is a free attraction and well worth having a look inside - it is much bigger than it seems from the outside and is a really historic part of Taranaki's history.

A small cottage with the few minutes required to read the placards and appreciate the exhibits. Worth while stop. Hours are sort of hit and miss so keep an eye out when walking past.

I really enjoyed finally discovering this cottage on the inside. It was larger than I'd expected, and provided a genuine feel for what life at that time must have been like.
