There’s just something so spiritual about this culturally beautiful church! Located in the tiny Maori village of Ohinemutu opposite the Maori 'wharenui' (meeting or big house) with the latter having intricately carved external wooden carvings. In proximity together the Tudor style architecture of the church...More

We were walking around the Kuirau Park area and turned onto Lake Rd and saw this little alleyway going down towards the water and took it. We found ourselves right in the middle of some tribal homes with steam coming up from under the houses...More

Amazing Maori carving and woven panels. Famous for the window depicting Christ walking on water. A living church loved by the locals. It has a long and interesting history. A donation towards the up keep is appreciated.

What a neat place, lovely old church and it was great to see something "real" rather than the tourist version of Rotorua. Highly recommend but do be aware that people actually live here, so be respectful.

An interesting little church which oozes peace and tranquility. The Picture of Jesus which shows as if he is walking on the lake is amazing and beautiful.

We loved our visit to the church. Coin donation is expected at the door, then you can go in and take many photos. The stained glass windows are beautiful, and there is an old waka to the right of the main entrance.
