Stopped in before lunch, read some of the fascinating history and decided to take the short walk around the waterfall loop, which is truly stunning. Remarkable that this feature does not receive more attention, given how many disappointing cascades are signposted around North Island! Fabulous...More

The history of an entire town getting wiped out during volcanic eruption is sad as much as emotional. The place is a must visit with a good walking track, waterfall and artefacts from the era gone by to see.
