A really good regional combined art gallery & museum (the main emphasis is museum). The permanent exhibition focuses on the Napier earthquake of 1931 and is very interesting.

Excellent modern museum with several galleries. The gallery exhibiting the impact of the earthquake was very well done. Enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it for visitors and locals alike. Allow 60-90 minutes.

We really enjoyed the variety of the subject matter in the museum. The story of the earthquake is particularly moving and very well told but so it the Maori musicians story!! Excellent. We enjoyed it all very much and it is FREE.
