I went to Waipataki yestersay (a beautiful Hawkes Bay day) with hubby and doggy. We actually wanted to walk doggy in the scenic reserve but, unfortunately, no dogs are allowed there. They are allowed (on a lead) on the beach however so this saved the...More

The drive is not for the faint hearted, lots of narrow windy road high up with no guard rail for the most part. The beach is protected and has lovely sand and waves. In fact I think it is the best NZ beach I have...More

Maybe an hour north of Napier, down a long and winding road, one encounters this very lovely kiwi-style beach. White sand, small but good waves, toilets and locals' baches. Obviously good spot for shellfish and crays, judging the numbers searching out amongst the rocks. Very...More

The drive to get here was great as not been for many years. The small village was so well kept it showed the pride of the people living in the batches. Great safe beach for swimming

We enjoyed watching the many surfers trying to stay erect on their surfboards, but their rides were short. This venue reminded us of some of the ocean beaches of California.

We would love to go back to Waipatiki - reminiscent of holidays as they used to be - totally unspoilt, with good breakers and lifegaurds, fishing and a cricket green and campground. loved it

This beach is a surprise as it was a trip down memory lane and is unspoiled by development. I nice beach, perfect for families on nice day. Great stuff.
