Visited to fill in time as it was raining. A bit disappointed as it is more of an art gallery that a museum. Not much there as such. The war and native maori sections were good though. Probably wouldn't visit again.

We have 3 very active kids under 7, so a rainy day on a weekend brings impending dread. Fear not fellow parents the museum has some great activities for the kids across the ages.

This museum offers a variety of exhibits in its 13 galleries. I enjoyed a huge Maori canoe, a tribute to fallen soldiers, costumes inspired by Jane Austin, Maori cosmology, photos of old Hamilton, and innovative art.

Just to see the history behind handcrafted canoe is worth the trip! There was a wonderful elderly gentleman giving short guided tours of the WWII section and it was worth listening to his personal stories.

The Museum had interesting exhibits and plenty of things to do. Grandchild especially liked the list of things to find while going around the Museum. Staff were helpful and had good knowledge.
