You can't miss this as it is in the centre reservation on Victoria St. It is fantastic and a great celebration of a local hero. The art work of the statue is fantastic in my view.

The work was created by New Zealand Defence Force artist Captain Matt Gauldie to celebrate the life and heroism of Sapper Horace Moore-Jones and to commemorate the centennial of the WW1 Gallipoli battle. It is a touching rendition of a hero.

Really lovely statue in the heart of Hamilton. I thin kit has been done really well. Gardens around it look good to for inner city gardens.

A newish addition of bronze statue, at the spot where he died saving others. A survivor and Gallipoli artist, he is portrayed in uniform, artist's pencil in hand, the bronze mounted on stone from Gallipoli by donated by Turkey.

This statue is beautifull made with Sapper Horace on the top and a copy of his hat and satchel on the side. It is an important reminder of our war heros and everyday people who all contributed to the country we now live in.

Horace Moore-Jones lied about his age to get into the war, he was actually to old to join. He was an artist and when at Gallipoli sketched the famous painting of Simpson and his Donkey. Altogether he painted over 80 sketches of and about Gallipoli....More

I walk past this everyday going to work, and this memorial reminds me of the shared sacrifice that our ancestors and grandparents made to fight injustice and to make our world a better place.
