A spectacular Island in New Zealand. A lot of awesome birds walking around everywhere and amazing land to walk on. Did the guided walk, but that was unneccassery. You got a lot of info about the birds, but it was a lot of waiting and...More

Our day trip to Tiritiri Matangi Island was one of the best things we did on North Island. The tour is a must-do. Our guide Jenny pointed out the many species of birds and plants as we walked the Wattle Track, and she used both...More

I've been wanting to go to Tiritiri for AGES, so today I finally went. Let's start with the PROS: 1. It's a nice, smooth boat ride with lovely captains. 2. You are instantly welcomed with dozens of birds hanging out at the wharf, and feel...More

As an Aucklander I can't believe i've never visited before. Definitely do the guided walking tour for an extra $10 as I don't think you'd see the wealth of bird life otherwise. Guiding is done in small groups and the guide we had was super...More

Expect the fresh air, some birds, a long walk and the shore. You wont necessarily see a bird, perhaps one or too. I just enjoyed the fresh, clean and sweet air. Just take a lot of deep breaths there.

This delightful Island is a pest free island run mostly by volunteers for the benefit of native birds and those of us lucky enough to be able to visit it.

This was one of the highlights of my month in NZ. It's a very popular daytrip 90 mins by ferry from Auckland city. So it's advised to book a few days before. The daily boat left at 09.00 and we were met on the island...More

I only visited Tiritiri matangi in December but I saw a ton of birds in their bird walk tour...oystercatcher and chicks, New Zealand pigeon, tui, quail, parrot, saddleback, rifleman, bellbird, and a fantail.

It’s not a beach trip really. Didn’t see any decent sand on our day out. Take the guided tour, it’s fabulous and extremely interesting.

No problem to book an open ticket - these are issued by Fullers 360. Probably best to ring them. 09 367 9111. See you on the Island soon I hope.
