The Auckland Harbour Bridge is lit up for major events each year with light shows that last 10-20 minutes played every hour. This year Matariki (Aotearoa New Year) is celebrated with an excellent show. Best viewing points are Birkenhead, Bastion Point, Chelsea or Devonport.

The light show was on, so I decided to jog to the bridge from my hotel. The bridge is nothing special, but you do get a decent view of the city as well as seeing the bridge. The light show was ok (kids would love...More

Sydney's bridge is so much better as you can walk along it and go up the towers. auckland's is very boring and you cant even walk on it unless you pay for a bridge climb

This beautiful bridge is visible fro harbour as well as from sky tower. Since I had seen Sydney Harbour bridge, compared to that it is an average place to see.

This is a bridge walk, very professionally done. A tad expensive. if you are lucky you can see auckland bridge bungy from a very close range. Will recommend if you have kids.

I've driven across it a few times, and seen pictures of it when it's been lit up, but it just doesn't have a definitive feel about it.\ Sorry, just ordinary. And full of traffic these days.

The Auckland Habour bridges baon purpose is to be the main thoroughfare between the Northern and Central parts of Auckland. Its not a particularly handsome or architectural and is generally very busy at peak times. Far nicer bridges in many other Cities.
