Nice to walk around and good places to eat and drink. Easily accessible for walking and enough variety of basic services (banks, chemists, post office, etc) as well as specialty shopping.

I could not believe how this town has changed, it was once a very ordinary working class town, now it has all the best restaurants, up market shops, and houses over the million dollar was very impressed.

Spent a few hours on a Sunday morning wandering Ponsonby and really enjoyed it. Classy shops, grungy shops, cafes, restaurants. Something like Newtown in Sydney. And it was busy, overwhelmingly locals. And it is only a half hour walk from the Viaduct Harbour area where...More

Ponsonby is the Balancing pole other side of town version of Parnell. Ponsonby has some amazing Restaurants Pubs cafes and knick knack shopping. It is also the home of The Three Lamps Hotel formerly known affectionately as the "Gluepot". The Hotel was and is Famous...More

We stopped in Ponsonby for a streetside lunch - all very nice but nothing to rave over. There's a steady stream of traffic going by and it's an easy find if you're on public transport, but as far as the shops and cafes, we found...More

Lots of good bars and restaurants in an area full of character and old buildings. Quite laid-back and interesting shops around too.

Ponsonby is a germ, nice cafes and restaurants mixed with brick a brick shops and high end cloth shops. A must for any visitor to Auckland.

Lots of $1M Victorian homes in residential neighborhoods. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops on main artery (Ponsonby Road). Take note of events calendar as we were there day of the Gay Pride Parade and traffic was a nightmare due to numerous street closures. Getting...More

Heaps of shops and restaurants. Easily accessible for walking and enough variety of basic services (banks, chemists, post office, etc) as well as specialty shopping to make it a worthwhile destination in it's own right.

Try Dizengof in Ponsonby road (think that is correct spelling). Very good selection, be prepared for it to be busy but have a look upstairs as it often has available seating. Delicious food, reasonable prices.
