Devonport is a very nice suburb on the north shore. Clean and well appointed houses. The large Marina is worth a look at with all the various yachts and motor boats there. Nice views across the water to Auckland central.
A really lovely little day trip with family. Only 25 minute drive from Auckland. There’s a nice little beach, beautiful houses and a great little naval museum. Don’t go back in peak hour, which is anytime after 3pm as Lake Road becomes incredibly jammed.
Gorgeous town. We caught the ferry over and walked around the shops. My teenage daughter and I did a segway tour up to Mount Victoria which was fantastic. I loved seeing all the beautiful weatherboard houses. Such a quiet beachside town.

The question has already been adequately answered. My grandchildren and I simply walked up. It only takes a few minutes, but, now that I think about it my wife sat on a seat just above the Victoria Theatre and waited for us there, last time. We mostly drive there now, but there are the other alternatives as mentioned..
