I enjoy riding on the Yarra Trams very much. First reason is there is tram terminus close by, second reason is they have lots of connecting routes that can bring me to most places in Melbourne. One can just sit and relax, and enjoy the...More

The free tram system in Melbourne is great. Although Melbourne CBD is really nice to walk around, when your legs get weary, it's nice to know you can jump on a tram that will take you back to your hotel, and not to have to...More

The fact that Sydney is now reinstating a tram system at enormous expense proves that Melbourne's decision to keep theirs was right. The free city circle tram is a great introduction for visitors with it's commentary.

As a Sydneysider, I am not used to travelling in a car alongside Trams or even getting onto Trams but we did find that they generally ran on time.

It's free within the city and cheap to travel all day around out of the city. Easier than driving and quicker than walking. Just obtain yourself a MYKI card when you're in town to use the trams.

It’s great to see Melbourne offering a fare free zone which isn’t just restricted to the free tourist tram that circulates the outskirts of the city. I hopped on a tram yesterday to make my way back to the hotel, and it was simple and...More

Love the trams. Clean, efficient and very easy way to travel around the city. Would not be Melbourne without the trams and the efficieny that they move very large numbers of people from huge sporting events is fantastic.

Melbourne, unlike Sydney did not get rid of its tram network and therefore can boast an extensive network that allows you to get around easily. There is also free trams within a specific areas of the CBD, perfect when you are exploring the city.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

35 is free for its entire loop - the other trams are free within a certain portion of the CBD, but paid outside of the free tram zone.
