It's a pleasant ride or stroll along a well-defined pedestrian/cyclist path. It's great for locals to enjoy a stress-free outing. However, I wouldn't recommend overseas travellers who have a tight schedule or who can find similar trails at home.

On a sunny day there is no better way to see the sights of Melbourne! The section of the trail that we love and frequently use starts from the centre of Melbourne, on the southern bank of the Yarra River, near Flinders Street bridge where...More

The Capital City Trail is a dual-use cycle and pedestrian trail. Getting around it would be an awfully long walk, so most people prefer to cycle. The Yarra Bend park is a good place to start. The Capital City Trail also connects to other trails,...More

I’ve cycled this circular trail in both directions and multiple times but you can run it or walk it. The path is fairly clearly marked, where it isn’t either follow the river or follow others! Two lanes (keep-left) are marked on much of the pavement...More

This is a beautiful trail that winds its way around the outskirts of Melbourne. It follows the Yarra River in parts and there are also parts that are quite industrial and are covered by motorways overhead. I did not have time to complete the full...More

We did this cycle trail a few years back and really enjoyed it so thought we would try it again. Like the true pioneers we are we decided to do it clockwise this time. Big mistake, as the signage is close to non-existent. Last time...More

It is a great route, with easy grades, well made paths, occasional shade trees and seats and some rare water sources. However, there are no toilets along the route. A pleasant walk or cycle and well connected to major roads, where there is food and...More

I love to walk so I walked this trail although a lot of people cycle it. Lovely bush scenery along the Yarra and plenty of places to stop and relax if the weather is nice. It’s pretty flat most of the way. The signage in...More

A great 30km ride that takes in many sights of Melbourne and inner city suburbs. It’s an easy ride on shared path with walkers. Plenty of water fountains and coffee shops along the way. Southbank Is lively but a bit of a bottleneck. Much prefer...More

The trail starts at the St Kilda Road end at Alexandra gardens and continues along the river and is a great way to see the city across the river and the parklands to the south.
