Loved the Baccarat chandeliers. Good kids activities. Overall good visit for us and of course on the tram line!

Free entry to a building which is an art work itself. An amazing stained glass ceiling probably the best in the world. A delightful entrance hall and great staff.

The NGV has one of the best collections of European and Asian art in the world. The Alfred Felton bequest and other significant donations has enabled the gallery to acquire the best. Jackson Pollock’s controversial ‘Blue Poles’ is worth a look. The gallery is free,...More

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is one of our favourite destinations when visiting Melbourne. It always has an excellent exhibition and currently is holding an exhibit on Escher (available until 7 April).

Love the NGV, always great exhibitions and fun things to look at for free. The gardens are lovely to explore in the warmer months too!

The good news is museum entry is free. There are some beautiful pieces in the collection, though overall the museum has an odd collection of art. Adding to the seemingly random collection is the strange way it's displayed. Great break from the rainy day, but...More

With space and a wonderful display of art from around the world this gallery is a must. It is not too large so it is possible to view everything superficially on ones first visit and then you can pop in again to see the special...More

An ever changing collection of some amazing international art.The galleries are well laid out and the curators put a lot of work into presenting works in a new way to help visitors gain more out of their visit. Staff are very friendly and the free...More

Tremendous special exhibition of a large number of Escher works and related displays. Big crowd on Saturday morning so arrive early to beat that. Easy to move around once you pass early choke points. Fabulous skilful, creative prints with many favourites plus modern displays

I must be the only person who has problems with the NGV. I recently visited the Escher Exhibition which was huge, but terrific. Well done! However, I queued for 25 minutes with 100 others to get my ticket. Just 3 sales people, which became only...More

Yes, lots of interesting stuff - kids could get quite a lot out of it, if we spend time talking to them about the art. I'll be taking my 5 yr old as soon as I can. Have a great time!
