It was a Sunday during our visit so it was crowded as expected and the Marathon was just finished. The left side of the Promenade was full of fancy shopping arcades, hotels, cafes and restaurants with Sunday Brunches along with skyrocketing prices. The garden grass...More

Not quite the Sydney Harbour but still a fascinating part of Melbourne; very accessible from the CBD, just a short walk or tram trip and a pleasant area for taking a stroll to escape the city.

Southbank is almost tucked away and for someone unfamiliar with Melbourne it would easy to overlook. It is actually a lively spot with many cafes and restaurants, and large outlet stores for some of the large footwear and clothing companies. In addition to the above...More

Love walking here which we do to get to the Southbank DFO. Lovely scenery and vibe with bustling high end restaurants on the left and lovely water in the right. Great place to visit and stroll.

I like to stroll down this side of the wharf when in Melbourne...a couple of reasons. The first is that it is not as busy as the north end of the wharf...much less tourists, not as busy and much more quiet. The second reason is...More

I have always been fascinated by waterfront cities. Some of my favorite places in the world are waterfronts, either on a great river or on a famed coast. In Melbourne, I love to hang out at Southbank, at the waterfront or the Yarra River, but...More
