Very lucky to see the taxidermy Tasmanian Tigers display in the museum. Finally, a legend is no longer a fairy tale but living history demonstrating the type of destructive power mankind is capable of.

We went in the school holidays when the children’s festival was on so there were lots of things for the kids to do. Our 6yo enjoyed it but the 1yo got bored easily. For school age and over it’s probably good.

Great place to learn about the settlement of Hobart and the Aboriginal experiences during this period. Also recommended you do the “Settlement Secrets” dramatisation. Entertaining way to see and hear about history.

If you are near Salamance Place then you really should walk down to the museum. It's beautifully set out and you can't beat it for a free couple of hours entertainment and education for the kids. Especially on a wet day!
