When you look at the staircase leading up to the hill, and you think gosh, so many stairs………. Just do it, you will be glad you did, it isn’t as many steps as it looks! and the views are great! You get to see Kangaroo Island from all angles, good place to take photo’s. Large carpark, no toilet facilities.

If you need to exercise after a long drive & ferry trip, this will give you a good cardio workout. We didn’t go all the way to the top but the views from 3/4 of the way up were very good.

Whilst the stairs from the carpark look daunting, it's only 200 steps to the summit and the view is worth the effort - the return journey is likewise 200 steps but it's all downhill - and there is a defibrillator machine halfway along with climb.

Prospect Hill has one of the best views on Kangaroo Island - north, south, east and west. We had a spectacular close encounter with two eagles at the top. There are quite a few stairs but you can take your time and it is well worth it.

A high vantage point on the narrow neck connecting the Dudley Peninsula with the rest of the island. Great views North - (Westish) toward American River and then across to the Dudley Peninsula as well as to the southern coastline. Not for the faint of heart though, I think I counted something like 400 steps to the top.

The views good all the way up but magnificent from the top. The staircase was upgraded in late 2019. It now starts off with some wooden steps but soon becomes metal staircase with stainless steel railing all the way up. It's NOT 500 steps as talked about. I counted every step and it's 404 steps . It wasn't hard at all as only walk about 30 steps and have a ledge platform for viewing and a rest if needed. The views are amazing can see over PENNINGTON BAY and whole island and to the Wind farm on mainland at Cape Jervis
Well worth the EFFORT GUYS. WALKING BACK WAS EASY COMING DOWN It's at Pelican Lagoon PROSPECT HILL LOOKOUT off Hog Bay Road which is a sealed road and carpark area caters for all size vehicles and RVs too. Nearby is Muston, Browns Beach with a campground and Baudin Bay a lovely spot to call in and read some history there of Captain Baudin .

We came across this place when we were driving to a destination. We decided to come back to climb it. It was a great view from the top. Worth the climb up. You should climb it if you are a fit male or female youngster.
Enjoy it and it is free admission.

Great first stop on our visit here, wasn’t planned but saw it not long after our drive off the ferry. Not too hard, all ages did it, great views.

A first we weren’t keen to try this as it’s 500 stairs (according to the info) and we both have dodgy knees but actually it was great. There’s lots of small places to stop on the way up and even if you didn’t get to the top, the views even from partway up are still worth it. So, go up just as far as you can manage as I’d say its still worth it.

Fantastic views after climbing the 500 steps. It's not a difficult climb and you can take it slow- great views from all of the landings. The views from all angles are breathtaking but I particularly liked the view of Pelican Lagoon. Worth a stop!!
