I was taken to Fitzroy Island for a day trip to do a bit of snorkeling, explore the natural beauty of the island and the highlight for me visiting the Turtle Rehab centre not far from the main jetty. The water was a little cloudy...More

Great tropical island approximately 45 minutes by ferry from Cairns. Lots of snorkeling, hiking and nature viewing available. Great short walks to Nudey Beach or a little longer to the Lighthouse. A kiosk is available for coffee, meals and snacks. Great little campground but need...More

Dead coral all over the beach and murky water. It's stupid that they don't let people smoke in the national park, typical over regulation. Ferry price out there is totally outrageous for what you get.

Do need proper walking shoes, lots of water and light backpacks as well as suitable clothing - not beach wear as some tried

Beautiful park with some great walks. However i would like to see a loop walk around the island as existing tracks are limited. Tracks well maintained and signage good. No introduced species, veg in good condition, no litter. Lack of ranger presence.

TICKETS We bought discounted tickets to Fitzroy Island on Bookme. The tickets were 11am-2pm which would not have allowed enough time on the island as the trip over there was approx. 45min. Luckily we were able to move our return trip to 4pm at checkin....More

We bought our boat tickets for half price ($37 each) on bookme website the day before we intended to go which was a bargain for a day trip. We took the 11am ferry over returning at 4pm (you also had the option of returning at...More

This is the first trip we’ve done when we arrived in Cairns, our first stop in Australia from Germany. The Reef is not the best but very nice for a first snorkelling experience. The turtle rehabilitation center was lovely and the ocean trampoline so much...More

Maybe you could contact one of the caravan parks. I would imagine they should be able to find you a store area.

The sea does not get too rough, and if you stay seated as they request you can't fall over. Regulations would dictate that they would not go if the weather was unsuitable. Australia is very safety conscious.

The ferry to the Island goes all year round. April is a good time- no jelly fish. You can hire equipment on the Island. They have glass bottom boat tours. Not a huge lot of coral left but still nice. Saw a few tropical fish... More
