NthPretty much as we expected it to be, some very good wax statues of some famous people. Then we went down stairs to the basement (it was like a dungeon) her we had a tour guide to explain what we were about to see. We were several wax rooms fill with all kinds of torture displayed. The guides descriptions of what we were seeing frightened one of the children we had with us and we had to take him out. Be aware that it could frighten some of the younger visitors. But us older ones were fascinated.

A nice addition to a family day out. Were walking from a park to the car and saw this museum when we decided to go in and continue our fun. Enjoyable guides, nice different displays, and a quite engaging experience all in all.

Couldn’t understand the tour guide due to his accent, plus there was no info sheets to help. Actually with info sheets you wouldn’t need a tour quite, it’s really not big enough for one. The displays really aren’t that graphic, children see worse on the tv. Overall it was an easy fill in hour. Bit pricey though.

Yes we are so lucky to have a tour guide through The Chamber of Horrors as a lot of tourists enjoy a tour guide. Some people find it hard to read and enjoy the exhibits at the same time.

Did the famous people wax figures as well as the guided tour through the chamber of horror. The staff are friendly and genuinely nice people. The tour was very informative and well worth a visit. The famous people wax figures had very interesting information written about each of them and so I spent a bit of time reading about them, it was very cool. Very happy we went.

The chamber of horrors guide is a very arrogant old man who told me to leave as my nonverbal autistic toddler was making noise and “these people have paid good money to come here”. Apparently their money is worth more than my money. I’ve never been so offended and upset in my life and I’ll never return.
NB. The chamber of horrors is not pram or wheelchair friendly and there are no placards with any information on these exhibits.

The Chamber of Horrors is wheel chair friendly. We have a lift for the disabled. As the Chamber of Horrors is a guided tour we also have place cards for the hearing impaired. Over the many years we have had many people (with varying degrees of capabilities), visit the Museum and most people are happy.

What a hidden Treasure and a great way to make my Gold Coast holiday all about the beach. After becoming burnt on the beach I was looking for other activates that Surfer Paradise could offer.
The Museum was entertaining and educational and the tour was no to be missed. The staff were great and entertaining.
A great hidden treasure on the Gold Coast.

This place is a complete waste of time and money, was actually ready to ask for our $60 back once we had hurried out of the 'wax museum'. What an absolute bore. Wax figures don't even resemble many of the artists. You advertise this place with wax figures of Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson obviously trying to target a younger market, that's where your going wrong! You talk about WW2 and Concentration Camps, torture methods, its an absolute cringe! I wish I had come on trip advisor and read all these horrible reviews before we had ever come here, my partner will never let me live this down now!! You should shut this place down and give it a total revamp. More welcoming, friendly and YOUNGER staff wouldn't hurt either. If you can't do that then you shouldn't be charging anymore than $10 pp for this dump. If you have kids and if you like to spend your time and money wisely, dont.come.here. Enough said.

The wax museum is the biggest waste of time and money on the gold coast. The figures are terrible stuck behind glass and do not look like anyone they are meant too. The horror tour is painfull and we were glad our baby cried and gave us an excuse to escape!! If anyone has seen the movie house of wax you will have an idea of what's in store..stay away!!!!! Save your money for dream world...

the chamber of horrors is not suitable for small children the guide is very graphic about how the methods of torture were carried out, I had to take my children out, the content of the chamber of horrors was not explained on entry, and the entry fee was $110.00 for a family of five, and was definately NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Would never go back or recommend it to others

I agree with all of the other bad reviews here.
Took my family, was there about 30min in total and parted with $90 for the privelege of looking at the worst display I have seen in a long time. It was old, dull and the dummies you find in K-Mart were more life like than those on display.
Spend your money elsewhere, there are so many more things to do than to waste it here. My only regret is I didn't read the trip advisor reviews beforehand.
To take that much money and provide such a poor quality product is bordering on criminal.
DO NOT GO THERE ..... Be warned

Hi, The Wax Figures in the Famous People are behind glass, however in The Chamber of Horrors only some of the wax figures are behind glass and some are behind bars as this is the atmosphere that we wish to create. In the foyer there are some figures that are not behind glass.
Hope this helps.

Yes they are.. honestly, I didn’t enjoy the wax figures..
The medieval tour was interesting though.
Overall not worth the money.

Would you recommend visiting with my younger sister? This sounds like the kind of thing she'd enjoy...but how does it compare with Mme Tussauds in London I wonder? Have you ever been lucky enough to go there? Would love some advice!
Written November 26, 2015
If your younger sister is quite young I think that she would enjoy looking at the celebraties and some historic figures. However, there are some scary wax figures, if she is really young I do not recommend you take her to see this section.
I have been to several Mme Tussauds in different cities and countries, if you are expecting to see a Wax Museum of that size then you may be disappointed with the one at the Gold Coast. It all depends on your expectation. Having said that, I've been to all of them and I still enjoyed it.
