    Inhumane place to visit
This exhibition doesn’t treat you as a human. If you need go to toilet, you are not allowed come back. The door man Heiko said it is their policy to control the visitor numbers. The management treat visitors like machines not human, such inhuman place, shame on you, HOTA!

    Underwhelming!
The building is very cool, intriguing and impressive from the outside. The top floor views are great. However, it all ends here. Only level 2 and 3 were open and is a very quick walk through of a few average exhibits. The children’s exhibit was one average sized room with activities. We were finished in fifteen minutes! What a waste of our time and taxpayers money.

    Disappointing standard
As a large regional gallery, it has a nice building, easy carparking and great views from this new HOTA Gallery. I'd expect some amateur work to reflect local community in the free to visit public spaces but it seems there were 5 floors of it. It appears to me that curators are more concerned with inclusion than sourcing excellence in skills, craftsmanship, design and intelligence. I enjoyed the exercise (lifts were too busy) and the river views but was flat out finding anything worth more than a few seconds of attention.

HOTA sucks - read the fine print in your ticket terms and conditions!
Besides being a totally cashless venue (which sucks too but totally different issue) - they can sell tickets to an outdoor event and then suddenly change their mind and move the event into one of their overcrowded theatres inside! We bought tickets to a picnic style event at their outdoor stage - think picnic blankets, under the stars, picnic hampers. Then a couple of weeks before the event they decide it is now an indoor event with no allocated seating. Totally different experience. They will not refund our tickets and said we can give them to someone else if we don't wish to go - citing the fine print on their terms and conditions. Really poor customer service.

The building looks very intriguing. What was on display was good, but unfortunate,y there was very little of it. Managed to see the entire place inside an hour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent to HOTA to visit the Archibald 100 exhibition, the staff were all very helpful and available. The adjoining carpark though lacks signage and information, no directional arrows on the ground to indicate the exit, no instructions to register your car on arrival at the parking station equipment, no information that the first four hours are free but you must still register your car first even if you are not staying over four hours. Fortunately we asked a volunteer guide on our arrival at HOTA what the requirement was for the carpark and rushed back to register. Confusing carpark.

Superb Archibald exhibition marred by a 45 minute wait for supremely subpar food in the 5/f cafe. Stunning venue with panoramic views ruined by shockingly poor food preparation. Staff were receptive to my complaint and apologised stating regular kitchen workers were off as it was a public holiday. People actually left after waiting too long for their table service orders.,Big mistake to go cheap on public hol staff.

This Farmers Market in the HOTA car park and lake area is the best we visited in Surfers Area. Great fresh produce and food stalls in a lovely location. Take your own bags and enjoy.

I visited HOTA and spent four hours. I really enjoyed the HOTA gallery - it's very much a regional gallery. The HOTA building is visually interesting from the outside and a pleasure to walk through inside. Overall though a very enjoyable morning.

I went to HOTA with my classmates, enjoyed three art galleries and it was very interesting. It was my first time visiting an art gallery and I loved. The place is very nice, the view is beautiful and the service is very good. I will definitely visit again.

I was interested to visit HOTA because of the Pop Masters exhibition, but was very impressed by the calibre of all exhibits. The staff were well informed, friendly and enthusiastic about the exhibits. A memorable visit, I highly recommend.
