We saw some huge spiders in the trees amazing and on the side so don’t worry. It was so hot the day we went so we didn’t stay for too long. The wet season meant everything was so lush and beautiful. I highly recommend if you’re a tree hugger like me..

The dog and I, Love going to the Botanical Gardens wandering aimlessly looking at the gardens, if lucky enough cornering one of the gardeners and picking his brains

We visited the Botanic Gardens at the end of our half day tour of the city. This was a better option than being dropped back at our hotel. We enjoyed a light lunch in the cafe before exploring the gardens. The visitors centre is worth visiting to learn more about the gardens including the cyclones and personalities who shaped its development. Overall, the gardens are well maintained and it’s easy walking, but can be hot. Worth visiting.

I'm in the horticultural industry in Melbourne, so it was heavenly being able to wander through the gardens and enjoy such a different set of plants from those I'm used to. Shady trees and lush lawns would be wonderful for a picnic. While there were a number of areas undergoing some renovations, there was still plenty to see. Would like a hard copy map of the various walks, rather than the app, as it was a pain swapping between app and camera. Lovely way to spend the morning though.

Visited as part of a city tour- in a sense that was a shame as we did not have very long to see what is huge area. The little bit we saw was great and we are trying to see if we can find a few hours extra to go back and explore.

Beautifully kept and needless to say in this climate, lush

Close to the centre, this is a lovely spot for a stroll taking in the mainly tropical plants and trees. Informative visitor centre and Evas Cafe very pleasant shady spot for drinks.

Beautiful place with an excellent cafe for breakfast or lunch or coffee. Plants well labeled and saw wallabies and lots of birds. Don’t’ miss the bowerbirds and their antics. Budget friendly but donations requested. Easy walk from town via the river pathway

This is a fabulous experience over the 42 ha of beautifully maintained tropical Gardens. The hop on hop off bus stops right outside the Botanical Gardens. It’s free to enter the Gardens and has a fabulous cafe at the entrance, (Eva’s Cafe). The information centre has a great map and small gift shop. Best time to visit would be early morning before the heat or late in the afternoon.
Allow 2hrs and time for a coffee at the cafe.
Great for children.
Dog are allowed in certain areas however need to be well trained.
Playgrounds and community garden also on site.
Fantastic use of City space.
