Very good value with only a gold coin to get in. The buildings have been renovated but there is still a lot of room for improvement with the information side of things. We enjoyed our visit.

Took the missus and both of us had a really good time. Very interesting to see how the prisoners were housed. It was good to see the gallows where the last 2 men were hung.

Would definitely recommend a visit, very very interesting. I thought the gallows were incredible, and how the prisoners were kept and treated (men and women together for quite some time). How the buildings were built are not what you’d expect from a Gaol either, which...More

Really interesting couple of hours spent here with the kids. For a donation there is some good interpretation signs and both the kids (8 and 10yrs) found it quite interesting. It is a little confronting for them (gallows etc) but nothing is dramatised and they...More

If you've never seen the insides of a prison then this is the place to go. It was a working establishment until recently and stories abound about the activities and who was here and what went on. Good education for youngsters.

Very underrated piece of Darwin’s history. Well maintained buildings that are still being restored. The old block cell block was very interesting, if only the walls could talk. I agree that guided tours would be great, but for a donation entry fee it was excellent.

Thankfully we had an excellent tourist guide to all the amazing destinations in Darwin but managed to find even more because one of our children is living there. Worth a visit.

Basic museum - it is really just a disused old prison. It is worth reading all of the stories about the prisoners. Seeing where the last people were hanged was quite confronting. Definiately worth a visit but don't expect a lot of facilites here -...More

Interesting place. Might be better with a guided tour. Gold coin donation. They were renovating one of the buildings when we were there so didn’t get to see inside that.
