Basic museum - it is really just a disused old prison. It is worth reading all of the stories about the prisoners. Seeing where the last people were hanged was quite confronting. Definiately worth a visit but don't expect a lot of facilites here -...More

Interesting place. Might be better with a guided tour. Gold coin donation. They were renovating one of the buildings when we were there so didn’t get to see inside that.

Entry by gold coin ..... excellent. Glad we went here but the history is so sad & appalling. Took way longer to explore than immediately thought..... the conditions....very emotional.

Very informative and interesting piece of Darwin’s history. The gallows were spine tingling. Great to spend a few hours looking at how this gaol was run until quite recently.

Good job it was free to get in as it was very disappointing! Spent less than than 15 minutes on site as there was very little to see. The only thing of interest was the gallows building.

Interesting look back at what people were locked up in. The gallows were interesting even though they were only used twice for all the construction. The dorm area was closed due to lead paint clean up so we couldn't see those but everything else was...More
