Crocosaurus Cove allows visitors a unique, up close and personal view of massive saltwater crocodiles, crocodile hatchlings, juveniles as well as being home to the World’s largest display of Australian reptiles and the famous Cage of Death. The Cage of Death is the only cage in the world that brings you face to face with some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles in captivity. Remember to bring your bathers and ‘Swim with the Crocs’ in our unique swimming area that allows you to get up close to our very active juveniles. Don’t miss the chance to feed these hungry juveniles as part of our latest attraction, "fishing for crocs" ...this is a photo opportunity not to be missed. Meet the reptiles and learn more about the Top End’s unique and favourite critters such as Western Bearded Dragons and Olive Pythons. We visited Crocosaurus Cove to do the Cage of Death dive with some very big crocodiles. From enjoying the cool of the water to being up close with the crocs, I highly recommend this fabulous experience. The girls that assisted made us feel safe throughout the experience.

    Fun!
Great experience. Did the cage of death and sting ray feeding - absolutely worth the money! A great chance to see the iconic australian salties up close. Definitely worth a visit, even if you don't want to almost kiss a crocodile 😉
Hi jasmin_ta_de, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate it. Sounds like you had a great time in the Cage of Death! We love getting reviews about our whip ray feeding as well, so thank you for mentioning it! That is an experience that not enough people know about yet, so spread the word! Crocs in the heart of the city
My husband and I did the Cage of Death at 12.30 and got there around 10ish and looked around at the array of reptile and of course crocodiles. We watched other do the Cage of Death and got to see a couple of other presentations. It was unreal to be in the cage and Wendell, a 5.5m crocodile was just inches away, but it never felt anything but safe and fun. Highly recommended place to visit
Thank you for this fantastic review, Samantha B! We are so happy that you had a great experience doing the Cage of Death - it really is an unreal experience! Sounds like you got to see everything around the park and we hope that you learnt something new about our Top End animals during your visit! Thank you very much for the recommendation. We hope to welcome you back into the park again one day.

    what an experience
The park itself is fantastic with lots to see but it was the cage of death experience that really cemented it for me. The staff were well trained and made me feel safe and i was able to enjoy my time centimeters away from a 5-meter crocodile. Thank you to all involved i would do this again in a heart beat.
Hi MatCat71, Thank you for your fantastic review! We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed our park and the Cage Of Death experience - it really is an eye opening, exhilarating activity to do! We would love to have you come back to the park and experience the COD again! We look forward to welcoming you back into the park in the future.

A terrific experience which didn't disappoint
Went with 3 little kids under 10, fantastic experience. Staff were very informative and interesting, keen to chat with kids. Had photos taken holding a small crocodile, bought the digital and 3 photos in a package and worth every cent. The photos were professional quality and a great momento. The smile on the kids faces say it all. Not only held a crocodile but also a snake and lizard. Wonderful. The souvineer shop there was full of everything Darwin. Great.
Hi X9566TUdenisep, Thank you for such a great review!! We love to hear that you and your kids had a great time - our team is so passionate about educating and inspiring everyone, especially the little ones. Never know who we might inspire to be the next Attenborough! We are pleased that you got some momento's to remember your day at Croc Cove! We hope to welcome you back into our park again.

    A Must See
Only had a short time to visit near the end of my time in Darwin. Wish I had more time to give. This place was really interesting. The crocs are HUGE! Much larger than the alligators I see in the US. A must see while in Darwin.
Hi Tony B, Thank you so much for your great review! We are glad you got the time to come and visit Croc Cove and are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, even if it was a bit too short. You will just have to come back one day and spend some more time here and go for a swim in the Cage of Death too! Add that one to the bucket list!! We hope to see you again one day and hope you enjoy your travels throughout Australia!

Get up close to living Dinosaurs!
I would definitely recommend visiting Crocosaurus Cove to see these amazing creatures in real life. Their size & grace is awesome. The staff were friendly & helpful & happy to have a chat. Overall I was taken back by the small size of the pools the big crocodiles live in. Whilst I’m sure it’s humane, I found it somewhat sad. Crocosaurus Cove didn’t present the way I had seen it in advertising & looks like perhaps it’s in need of a freshen up. No AC for most of the crocodile exhibits so very hot of course. Still overall I would recommend it as an opportunity to see these massive animals for yourself.
Thank you for your review, V3839VOpaulr. We appreciate the recommendation and are pleased to hear that you had a great visit to Croc Cove to see our incredible Australian Saltwater Crocodiles! They really are graceful, that's a perfect way to put it... and yes, HUGE!! Yes, it is definitely getting hot up here in the Top End! We hope to welcome you back again one day.

    Amazing experience!
I spent an entire afternoon at Crocosaurus Cove. I had booked the Big Croc Encounter VIP Tour, where I met a big movie star! The 81-year-old Saltwater Crocodile "Burt" starred in "Crocodile Dundee"! I got to feed him a chicken leg. I also got to hold "Fluffy", a one year old crocodile. After my tour, I watched the Big Croc Feed Show. Another presentation was "Meet the Reptiles". I got to hold "Cupid", a bearded dragon, and "Donald", a Woma Python. I really enjoyed Crocosaurus Cove!
Hi H5152PVrobertd, Thank you for your amazing review! We are stoked to hear that you enjoyed the VIP tour, our shows and got to meet and hold some of our reptiles!! We hope that you learnt some interesting facts from our knowledgeable staff whilst you were here too. Burt will be so happy to get a mention - he misses his glory days! Luckily for him, we are very proud to have a movie star in our midst and love to show him off! We hope to welcome you back again one day!

    Cage of Death
Definitely worth it, it was such a fun experience and so different from anything else! You get 5-10 minutes to observe the crocs from underwater, and then the cage is raised so you can watch them hunt from out of the water. Seeing the crocs close up was so cool - highly recommend!
Hi sandmach123, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your amazing experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great time observing the crocs up close and personal in our Cage of Death. It's always a joy to provide a one-of-a-kind adventure that leaves a lasting impression. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable moments soon!

I understood prior to the Cage of Death experience that I was paying $175 for essentially 15 minutes. But I’ve always wanted to do this experience, so I splurged on the cost. The staff were very friendly and took me through the safety briefing and answered any of my questions.

The biggest issue was that the mask they gave me kept fogging up. They bragged that they were giving me a new mask, but they clearly did not treat them to prevent fogging up. I’m a scuba diver and there are many simple ways to treat new masks to take care of this issue. Plus they should have anti-fog spray to use just before you go in the water. I kept having to take off the mask and clear them. It was super annoying and a waste of my precious time in the tube!

What really frustrated me was that I was paying $175 for this experience and I couldn’t see! I told the staff when I got in the tube that the mask fogged up and they essentially ignored me. Then when they called out to see how I was doing during the experience, I told them again that the mask kept fogging up. They just yelled back, “Ok!” And that was it. When I finished and expressed my disappointment, I got a halfhearted, “Sorry.”

Aside from the foggy mask issue, the rest of the experience wasn’t that great either. The pictures show a croc swimming underwater in what appears to be a large enclosure. Complete marketing gimmick! The enclosure was actually quite small and the croc just swam in slow circles around for the first 10 minutes. I have an underwater camera, and I never got a picture of the croc in its entirety because it kept half its head above water. And that’s normal for a croc (which I’ve now learned), but don’t make your advertising look like this croc is going to be doing anything super exciting while you watch it! It even completely stopped moving for about three minutes and just sat there in the water. The last five minutes of the experience they have you sit on the bottom of the tube and they feed a small piece of chicken to the croc, which livens up the croc and it opens its jaws for you. That’s it. For $175. It’s completely ridiculous! And then they’ll gouge you again on the photography, but I elected to skip this because I had my own camera.

Overall, I was super excited for this experience and then was quite disappointed with what I actually got. Save your money and go do croc experiences out in the wild instead.

Initially booked in and had a time - two seperate people asked us if we could go in to the dive early if needed - we said yes.
Went to cafe at 245 and it was locking up ( but the park doesn’t close until about 530/6 so that was just weird and annoying.
We were asked to go do the safety briefing early because we needed to go down early so we did, and hung around but then someone else was put in before us so all confusing.
We did the dive - pics are about $26 each (or $60 ish for a whole disc).
My guide would be to allow 2 hrs (we were told 2 hrs to a whole day)

Hi B5724TIcindym, Sorry to hear your experience wasn't as smooth as we would hope, but thank you for being flexible in your dive time. Some times the team will try and get cages in early if another is running late or if their is a potential electrical storm building in our tropical weather. But we will pass your example on for discussion on better communication. I hope this didn't sour your experience in the water with one of our amazing Salties and you enjoyed your time in the Top End. Safe travels

Went into the Crocosaurus with a gut feeling that it likely wasn't an appropriate environment for such large animals.

The size of the enclosures and layout were far worse than expected. Considering that the largest crocodiles are over 5m long, they only had a few meters to walk and swim around in. Furthermore, the younger small crocodiles were jam packed into small enclosures virtually sitting on top of each other due to the limited space. A small crocodile had its jaws taped closed and used a prop for photo taking while it thrashed around.

We left with a strong sense of sadness and sympathy for the abused animals. Do not make the mistake we made by attending and go see these beautiful creatures in their home in the wild.

Hello Charlie, I'm sorry to hear your comments and that you left Crocosaurus Cove feeling this way. Firstly, I want to emphasize that the health and happiness of our animals is very important to us. Our experienced and passionate team works diligently to care for our animals and our facilities have been overseen and developed by highly qualified herpetologists and vets that specialise in NT reptiles and we continue to regularly consult. Careful considerations are taken to ensure our animals exist in a positive mental state, that their nutrition is maintained, and their environment is comfortable. As you mentioned, we do offer the daily opportunity for visitors to purchase a souvenir photo of themselves holding a baby crocodile. For the safety of both our crocodiles and the general public, the crocodile’s jaws are taped closed during handling. Our staff is trained on comfortable and correct tethering and handling procedures. Our goal as an attraction is to teach the public about Australia’s incredible wildlife, and encourage a respectful and peaceful co-existence between humans and reptiles. The well-being and preservation of reptiles is at the heart of what we do. All the best.

Crocosaurus Cave was the first of three crocodile orientated attractions on our trip north, and even before we attended the other two, I had mixed feelings about the visit.

Entry to the facility i felt was drawn out and not as simple as a payment and enter with a provision of a map. The lady behind the counter was trying her best to be helpful but her efforts just made things confusing.

Once inside I was slightly underwhelmed as it wasnt a very large place and there were very few crocodiles on display. I got the sense that the whole thing was now very commercialised. There was also not alot of viewing space at most of the exhibits, so unless you rushed through the crowd during the feeding presention to the next position, you didnt really get to see much.

The reptile enclosure was great however. It was nice to see all the different species. The individual enclosures all had hand painted backgrounds which was lovely and very authentic.

Exit through the gift shop was also a bit interesting. I collect certain travel gifts for my family, and my small purchase took a long time. The same process of over expaining the facility to the guests at the window was present, and we nearly left without purchasing anything.

Hi Postcode_X, My apologies as it doesn't sound like your experience was as smooth as we would expect, especially while entering and leaving the park. This has been passed on to our retail manager to address in team training, to ensure we deliver the best level of service while maintaining efficiency on busy days like you experienced. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the reptile house, a lot of work has gone into ensuring each enclosure is purpose built to needs of the individual species it holds. We house 7 adults and over 100 juvenile salt water crocodiles, with each adult enclosure offering views from below the water as well as above and some can also be viewed from the viewing deck (top floor), but I do understand it can be quite busy throughout the shows when crowds try to get the best viewing position. We do take this into account when choosing which Crocs to feed in the presentations to allow the most people to get a good look as well as moving enclosures so the people at the back have a chance to be at the front for the next feed. We appreciate the feedback and if there was anything else you wanted to share with us you can reach me directly at sales@croccove.com Safe travels

Visited Crocosaurus Cove on 24th April 2021.
Excellent tourist attraction in the heart of the city, so an easy short walk from hotels.
The Cove is split across 3 floors so there is a really good underwater view of the croc enclosures on the ground floor looking into the tanks and then easy viewing topside on the main floor.
Excellent reptile house with alot of snales, lizards and reptiles and also an aquarium and turtle exhibit.
Main event is undoubtedly the crocs and there are all sizes to view from babies upto to 90yr old 5m salties. Also an opportunity to hold a baby croc and have your photo for $25 which was really cool.
The main attraction is the "Cage of death" - a perspex tube lowered into the tank of one of the adult crocs. I did this and thought it was an awesome way to get up close to the crocs in their enclosures and watch them feed whilst also see their bodies and movement as closely as possible - $175 per person and includes park entry so would fully recommend.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and i felt safe throughout.
Only minor negative comment i have on the park is the enclosures appeared on the small side for a 5m+ croc to live in.
Overall excellent experience and fully recommend for a couple of hours learning about the crocs and other reptiles.

Was lucky enough to get a booking for cage of death and I was so excited for the week leading up. Unfortunately the attraction was pretty much a flop. William was totally disinterested and to be honest it was just very underwhelming....even boring. The Perspex is so scratched the visibility is very average also from inside the “cage”. It was a stretch to give it 2 stars. I’m pretty easy to please but this was a let down. Having said all of this I did see a session earlier on the day with another croc and I have to say that couples’ adventure was 200% better than mine - their crocodile was very active and not just sunbaking like mine....

Hi Tanya, Sorry to hear your experience in the Cage of Death didn’t live up to you expectations. Unfortunately scratching is an unavoidable bi-product of working with Crocodiles as is behavioural differences between animals. I have passed your feedback onto the animals manager for consideration. Our cage experience is designed to give insight and appreciation into crocodile behaviours and I am concerned in this instance this was not accurately communicated in your briefing. If you are able to provide me the details of your cage I’ll compare it with our records to see if there is anything that needs addressing with the team. You can email me at sales@croccove.com Thank you for sharing your experience with us and I look forward to hearing from you.

We're locals, so bought the "Territorian Pass", which gives 12 months unlimited entry.

Crocosaurus is a great place to hang out for a couple of hours exploring, or the whole day if you want to see the shows and get the most for your money.

There's a lot to see, and the entry fee is in line with most tourist attractions.

Watch out for parking, though. There's usually plenty of on-street parking nearby, but it's time-limited to 3 hours.

We enjoyed our time here. The fish feeding was good, and the croc feeding, although the guide’s microphone was cutting in and out making it pretty hard to hear. Needs an upgrade. Guide very knowledgeable too. Crocs are awesome. Some great displays. Hubby did the swim with the crocs which definitely made the visit worthwhile - he loved it. Some very clever displays giving you the option to look at the crocs (big and small) from different angles and perspectives. If you’re just after crocs and reptiles this is a nice place to visit.

Hi Kate, Thank you for your review. Really glad you enjoyed the display, we are quite proud of giving guests the rare chance to see how a Crocodile behaves below the water as well as above. But nothing really beat being in the water next to one of the big guys! Sorry we were having some technical issues, the wet season isn't the kindest on technology but we hope too do better if you visit again! Safe travels

The pulleys can transfer cages into different crocodile enclosures & I saw staff do just that to the couple before us to ensure they had a great experience with active crocodiles. We were placed in William & Kate’s enclosure & William was keen to circle our cage & put on a great show at feed time. Staff were helpful with instructions beforehand & photographers are there to capture moments. We loved every minute! Screamed a couple of times when those jaws snapped at feed time, so close!

Hi Tarnie, Great to hear you had an amazing time with William and Kate, and don't worry you certainly aren't the first to scream when he has slammed those powerful jaws down right beside the cage!
