Neighborhood: Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.

These are really charter boats for short distances, they need to be booked and cannot just be flagged down like a taxi. When we figured that out and called them, a boat was sent to our location quite quickly to pick us up. The service from the driver was fantastic, helping one of our older passengers to alight without issue. He also stopped the boat for a great photo. Not cheap though!

Steve put us front and central of the fireworks - not a boat in front of us!!! An amazing experience, thanks Steve!

While visiting Sydney I water to take a boat tour of the harbour, but most of the tours I found online were bundled with lunch or dinner, and I've found the food on such tours in other cities to be sub-par at best.
I decided to just take the water taxi as a round trip. It had the virtues of being cheaper, ran frequently, and while it was an unguided tour I figured I could always just shout questions to the boat driver. :-)
It turned out to be a great way to see the harbour.

This was one of the best things I’ve done in Sydney as a local. It was a gift for my husbands birthday. We had the best day out. Our driver Steve was lovely. We were given extra blankets for the little kids. The picnic food was top quality. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Captain Steve saw how nervous I was stepping onto the boat but by the end of it had encouraged me to step out to the front of the boat and get the full experience. It was amazing and I can't thanks him enough. I highly recommend this service as it's so full of interesting information about the harbour and Steve is a gem.

Had a great trip across the harbour with Captain Steve. This guy deserves a raise! He gave us some great commentary on the history of Sydney and even turned back to rescue my sons hat when it blew into the water.

Specifically booked a sunset water taxi tour because we didn’t want to be on a big boat, preferring a more unique experience where we were closer to the water etc. When we turned up however, we were told we’d been bumped onto a ferry style vessel which was s huge disappointment to us. Had we known there was a chance this could have happed we wouldn’t have made the booking. A let down to an otherwise great trip to Sydney.

Hi AndGood,
I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your sunset experience with us.
We have several sunset cruises available including both our boutique Yellow Water Taxi tour on a smaller vessel and a City Sights Sunset Cruise on a bigger vessel. Our staff do offer the bigger vessel option to customers travelling on our Water Taxis when weather conditions are poor however, customers have the option to choose between the two and can continue to travel on our smaller vessel if they wish. I'm very sorry to hear that you were not given the option to remain on a Water Taxi, I will be following this up with our sales staff immediately.
If you could please contact sales@fantasea.com.au with your bookings details, I can look into this further.
Kind Regards,
Luke

Hi Shaun G,
Yellow Water Taxis is a private tour/transfer provider. We specialise in unique, small vessel transfers that allow guests to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy ferries and get up close and personal to iconic sights. As mentioned, we are a private provider and our services are unfortunately, not government subsidized so there is a difference in price. We limit our vessel capacity to 16 passengers, a stark contrast to the hundreds of travelers you will find on the bigger boats.
Our aim is to provide a boutique transfer experience, where guests are able to sit back, relax and enjoy tip top views of Sydney Harbour. We understand this doesn't appeal to all travelers however, as you mentioned there are multiple providers for you to choose from. In the future, I highly recommend selecting any of the ferry providers if you simply wish to get from Point A to Point B at a thrifty price.
Kind Regards,
Luke

Can you get a Yellow Taxi from Circular Quay to Tamarama? If so, what is the cost?

Tamarama is near Bondi. I'd get a train from Circular Quay to Bondi and then a bus to Tamarama. Hope this helps. You can get a taxi.

Would like to know how to get from Circular Quay area to Tamarama...by land or sea.
Hi there,
Sorry for the delay. Kerry is 100% correct. You cannot get a Water Taxi to Tamarama, it is outside of the Sydney Heads where the seas can get very big. It is not suitable for a water taxi.
Thanks,
